Yep sometime in the very near future I will be looking for a new place to live :(

My landlord is selling my flat and the ball has already started rolling…

My cool little bachelor pad will cease to exist and I need to look for something new (gutted).

Moving house is up there as one of the most stressful life events that can contribute to illness.

Did you know stress can seriously effect your weight loss results?

Other major stresses in our life include:

Death of someone close

Divorce

Injury or illness

Dismissal from work

Financial difficulties

Trouble with in-laws (no joke)

Revision of personal habits

Change in recreation habits / social activities

Change in sleeping habits

Change in eating habits

Other things like holidays, Christmas, neighbours etc can also lead to stress and the list is pretty extensive.

So what’s this got to do with being healthy and losing weight?

Most of us think stress means your depressed and unable to cope when the reality is that it can be an underlying silent killer.

You might not feel stressed or even feel like anything is any different but…

When we place stress on the body we increase production of the hormone cortisol which is not good, this little guy helps to increase blood sugar, hold onto excess body fat, decreases bone formation and suppresses the immune system.

Shit NOT GOOD, it’s why when we are really stressed we tend to catch more colds, feel worse and health problems come out of remission.

For me I have a tell tale sign, my left eye has a viral infection that is normally unnoticeable, when I place too much stress on my body it flares up, goes red and gritty and my skin starts to break out.

You might even have something similar yourself, such as a cold-sore, bad skin, frequent flu / colds this is your body telling you that it needs a rest.

Stress is not always a bad thing, it only becomes bad when we have to much for the body to cope with.

If you are burning the candle at both ends, no getting enough sleep, eating poor quality diet, combined with anything from the list above and then you hammer the gym / increase your exercise routine what do you think will happen?

Yep your results will stagnate, you might even start to put on weight even if your doing more exercise and…

You will end up either injured or not well GUARANTEED.

So start to manage your stress better, yes somethings will happen that are out of our control such as the landlord selling my flat :(

But by managing all the other aspects which I can control I will be in a better position to stay healthy, stay away from injury and still feel and look the way I want ;)

So if your weight loss has stalled and your still eating well and thinking whats the point?

Solve the underlying stress issue and restart your weight loss journey.

It can be as simple as making sure you are getting adequate sleep each night.

Let me know how you get on ;)
